The Open Source revolution has proven to be a new paradigm capable of producing world-class technology. It has created dedicated communities of contributing developers and power users. However, the open source projects must now attract mainstream users to continue growth and establish a long-term position in technology markets.(See open source crossing the chasm column on right.) When the time comes to go to market, however, the additional components that enhance success, documentation, application assistance, knowledge base and technical support, do not have a ready infrastructure. CIE is an OnDemand, world-class infrastructure for client support and knowledge transfer. The environment is an integration and enhancement of open source technologies.
